Spring, changes and news
The news that spring has brought us is the start of a partnership with Francisco from BioHabitus, a project that produces and sells certified organic vegetables and herbs in the Porto area, who will be welcoming us to grow not only our Flax, but also our Dye Plants.

Those that know me really well know that the work I do isn't about tradition. It's about manufacturing in a more conscious and sustainable in all areas and knowing that that sustainability greatly depends on the ability of reducing production scales and using local resources.
Slow and steady
This year the weather was radically different from last year's during the flax season: lots of rain and lower temperatures that have been raising slow and steady.
Flax sowing 2016
After the trouble we had finding Galego Flax seed to start our crop in Serralves last year, it felt good to have it multiplied and have this year's sowing assured without having to count seeds.
Here they are!
Four days after the sowing, the little galego flax sprouts started peeking out.
Flax - preparing the soil
Our flax was sowed a little bit later than it should have, by the 23rd of April. The plan was to do it two weeks earlier, at the end of March/beggining of April, but problems related with the equipment necessary to prepare the soil made us postpone it several times, and also change the location, and this date was the best we could do.

Spinning and Weaving are two things that have this mesmerizing power over me. I don’t know how to do any of the two, yet, but when I see the fiber turning into yarn, and then the yarn into fabric I can’t help thinking that there’s a mystical aura about it that hypnotizes me.
