Let’s learn machine knitting

It seems impossible, but Maria David Castro and I have known each other virtually for many years, long before Saber Fazer and Oficina das Malhas existed, but only now are we finally going to collaborate!Maria David has been working with domestic knitting machines for over 10 years. She is currently developing the Oficina das Malhas project, which focuses on practical training in this area and the production of very limited series of knitted items made from 100% Portuguese wool.

What I wanted to tell you is that in November we will be holding our first Intensive Machine Knitting Course, which will be a course with certified professional training hours.

I took these pictures of Maria David when she stopped by to drop off the machines she will be teaching with. While unloading machine bodies, multiple accessories, books and manuals, she told me interesting facts about all the details and history of these machines, the techniques and the current context of this craft.
This subject of knitting machines is super technical, full of curiosities and geeks and, above all, has enormous productive and creative potential. So, it's everything we love to have here at Saber Fazer!
