2015 - Saber Fazer in Serralves
Imagens: Serralves;
After Saber Fazer's last presence in Serralves, for the Autumn Festival activities we organized, I was invited to make a proposal for a program related to this subject, to be carried out throughout 2015, in their grounds.
For someone like me that has been investigating this subject for years, ideas and arguments to justify a program of this kind is something I have plenty of, but making it short, I suggested that Serralves started developing and processing three main textile fibers in their farm: wool, linen and silk.
The main goal, for this year, will basically be to create and assure all the necessary resources so that these processes can be a part of the farm production annually, in the following years, making them available to the general public, that will be able to be in touch with these production processes in a way that we intend updated and valuable for our time.
This will be a experimental first year that will lay the basis for open discussion and learning in the coming years, but also that will allow to perform a continuous investigation that aims at improving and optimizing this type of small scale manufacturing, that, as I see it, is becoming ever more significant each day.
I really want to start posting updates about this particular process around here, as this will also be a great learning process for me personally, and this is a great way of keeping it documented.
There is a much larger text for the program that was proposed, featuring all the specific ideas and arguments supporting it, but for now I can't translate it. Hope I will soon.
