In Vale de Gatos

A trip to Évora in a mix of work/pleasure and a quick visit to Vale de Gatos to finally get to know Isabel and Carlos's place. Unexpected news made Isabel travel a little sooner than expected, but Carlos was there to show us around and allow me to photograph the atelier.
The house is beautiful in its whole, but the luminous atelier, designed by Carlos as the connection between the two old houses that were renovated when the couple moved there 20 years ago, filled with looms, spinning wheels, related paraphernalia and books, is the dream of any of us fiber lovers.
Outside, among other animals, they have a small flock of Campaniça sheep, one of the rarest portuguese heritage breeds, that produces one of the most interesting portuguese wools, in my opinion. The white sheep are purebreds and officially registered by the breed association. Isabel works with this wool every year and I have had the chance to try it several times, as well.
Looms and spinning wheels inside, sheep outside. Something to aim for in the future.
