Manel of craft and music

Did you know that our warping posts and tapestry looms are made here in Porto by Manel Toga? We have been working with Manel for over 10 years, since the time he worked at Missom (where he also made our Portuguese spindles, which are still in high demand!). But Manel's speciality is not textile equipment, nor is his workshop just any carpentry shop. Anyone who knows Manel knows that he is a craftsman, but he is also part of the music world, frequently appearing backstage at shows by some of the biggest Portuguese bands (think Ornatos, Mão Morta, Pluto!). 

Manel continued to specialise in percussion instruments and now has his own workshop where he makes snare drums, drum kits, shakers and woodblocks. He is a luthier, but he is also our friend, so he does us a favour by making some of the tools you have in your workshop.
