Preparing the dye plants for 2017

Spring has arrived, which means the shearings have begun, the silkworms are hatching and this year's crops are being prepared. The next three months will be nothing shorter than madness.
In Serralves, Carlota has already started to sow some of the dyeing plants we will be growing in a larger scale this year, including japanese indigo and woad. This will be the year to carry on some interesting experiences and not just in Serralves: there are hundreds of dyeing plant being germinated in another place that I will be talking about soon.
In our sample dyer's garden that will be kept this year in Serralves's farm, our woad is starting to flower, the dyer's chamomile has settled for good, and the coreopsis and calendulas keep on giving flowers that I keep cutting to dry or freeze for future use.
