Research on Silkworm Rearing and Silk Production

Silkworm Caterpillars (Bombyx mori)
Between 2015 and 2016, we conducted research focused on small-scale silk production, from silkworm rearing to silk extraction.
This work allowed us to acquire fundamental knowledge and apply it to various educational projects, such as Saber Fazer in Serralves and Saber Fazer in Famalicão (links to both projects).
As a direct result of this project, we highlight the publication of the manual “A Seda - Da Lagarta ao Fio” (Silk—From Caterpillar to Thread) published by Saber Fazer in 2023.
