De quando trouxemos a Teresa ao Norte para nos ensinar umas coisas sobre seda
As imagens deste vídeo já foram captadas em 2016, no dia da oficina que demos em Serralves. Nele, a Teresa Frade faz uma pequena demonstração do processo de extracção da seda dos casulos. As condições não foram as ideais, a começar pela água que teimava em não aquecer, até ao ruído de fundo que não nos deixa ouvir o sarilho a rodar e os dizeres da Teresa enquanto ela trabalha. Mas já tenho andamento suficiente para saber que registos destas pessoas se fazem quando podemos e nem sempre quando queremos, porque a oportunidade pode não voltar a surgir.
Além disso, é raro ter comigo alguém para filmar e neste dia tive a sorte de poder contar com o João para captar e editar o vídeo final, também.
No ano seguinte, em 2017, trouxemo-la novamente ao Norte. Desta vez foi no Museu da Indústria Têxtil da Bacia do Ave que tivemos a oportunidade de a ver fazer uma demonstração fiel do trabalho que realizou durante décadas, utilizando o seu próprio material e também de aprender a desenrolar casulos pessoalmente com ela.

In the video, Teresa makes a short demonstration of her silk reeling process, which is the way it is done traditionally in Portugal. The conditions in which the video was made were not ideal. The water was not heating up properly and the background noise doesn't allow us to ear the swift turn and her sayings while she works. But still, I know that this kind of documents should be done when the opportunity arises. It's very rare that I have someone with me to film and this day I was lucky to have João to film and edit the final video, later.
The following year, in 2017, we brought her to the North again. This time it was in the Textile Industry Museum in Famalicão that we had the opportunity to see her work using her original equipment and the traditional fire. Those who came to the afternoon workshop, also had the opportunity to learn to reel cocoons personally with her.
