Flowering Flax
Most definitely, the most beautiful time in flax growing: the flowering. The plants already have their maximum height, and they get the typical purple flowers in the morning, that then fall throughout the day.
We can already see the seed capsules all grown, but still maturing, and the field has this beautiful shade of green but I know it is about to turn more yellow each day, as crop time approaches.
From sowing to flowering, almost exactly 30 days have passed - at the time I thought that was too fast, and I blamed it on the hot weather we were having, but Flávio Martins says that our national flax varieties rarely stay on the ground more that 45-50 days, and that actually makes sense according to the timings we had at Serralves' farm.
