The first experiments
Imagens: Guida Fonseca;
Although I'm buried in work and do not have the time to write all the posts I need to write, I had to come here and share Guida Fonseca's first experiments with some of the wools she discovered through our ongoing small Portuguese Wools study, in her own work.
This is exactly our goal: to show the variety of the wools we have in our country so that it rouses new ideas, especially coming from those who work on a small or middle size scale, and have the creative capacity to reveal the potential of each one.
After making the samples for the book, Guida couldn't help but using wool from several churra breeds, on an ongoing work of hers, and here are a few words from her:
"This is another step in this new work. I was surprised by the diversity in our Churra breeds, throughout our Portuguese Wool study. Some wilder, and some softer, but all with a strong personality, invited me to weave them just like they are. Allowing them to breathe a new life. From the Algarve all the way to Minho, they are all here. It was a pleasure getting to know them!"
