Work in progress with Guida

Last time I went to Lisbon, I took the opportunity to visit Guida Fonseca and work with her on what I hope to be Saber Fazer's next little book. With Guida involved it's not a surprise that it will have something to do with the beautiful craft of weaving.
The idea came along when we first met, on occasion of the invitation for her participation in the Festa de Outono event at Serralves, last year.
At the time I had finished writing the Woodworking tools book, and through our conversation I quickly understood that we share the same interest for technical knowledge. It's just that, usually, when I go into my "technical" ramblings, the person in front of me ends up with a blank stare, so, when I meet someone that not only knows what I'm talking about, but also shares the same obsessions, I have to cease the opportunity and invite her to write a little book. And she said yes.
It will be something short and focused, but hopefully well produced and very useful, especially for the weaving craft in portuguese.

If on one hand I really enjoy doing the investigation myself, on the other it's a great privilege to be able to rely on the decades of work and teaching experience that Guida has, and being able to put a little bit of that knowledge out here.
I know she has a very strong and faithful tribe of followers, but I still feel her work has been a little bit under the radar in our country, probably because her main goal has never been self-promotion, but rather actually producing work in the real world.
If you're not familiar with her work, the Lugar do Têxtil is the place to start, or you can follow her on facebook. Guida also gives workshops all around our country, that I higly recommend if you have an interest in spinning and weaving.
