We're almost in May and shearing season has been open for a while now, but in Serralves, the first time the Bordaleiras-Entre-Douro-e-Minho sheep will be sheared in the farm will be in the next saturday, the 9th of May, starting at 11h in the morning.

A good shearing is an essencial step to obtain good quality fibre, but it is also a moment of demonstration of respect for the animal that each year offers us a valuable raw matter, and that should be treated in a careful a knowingly manner.
That's why I invited Marty O'Connel to come to Serralves and be our shearer this year. Our goal is not only to have the sheep properly sheared, but also to receive someone that loves their job, loves talking about it and it's great at it.
The shearing will take place in the Serralves' farm, close to the stables, and it is going to be open to the public.
If you're a wool lover or enjoy textile fibers in general, and are curious about seeing these processes first hand, then this is a great opportunity to watch, learn and ask questions to an excellent professional.
